BedBugs on college campus

Riddle me THIS, Batman, When is a BedBug… NOT a Bedbug? When social media is involved?

Every time Commissioner Gordon needed help, he lit the “Bat Signal” and the Caped Crusader would arrive. There was usually some silliness created by the Riddler, but I don’t remember an episode that involved Bedbugs. Maybe the Bat Signal has out-lived it’s usefulness. If/when every citizen of Gotham City will “re-tweet” the alert, maybe the Riddler doesn’t really need to do much to create havoc. Just the rumor of BedBugs is enough to create mischief these days.

The latest “BedBug panic” happened @ Concordia University in Montreal Canada. It turned out to be a big “drama” over nothing, but is the perfect example to multiple forces coming together and creating a lot of un-necessary panic, expense and bad PR. This story starts with one “innocent” post by someone, it is seized apon by opportunitist who want to create “funny news” for a spoof web site, and by the time the story cycles back around the damage is done to the reputation of [in this case a public municipal library] business.

Public facilities, and businesses take BedBugs seriously. They are bad for PR and no one ever seems to remember the announcement that a check showed NO BedBugs. Just like gossip about slutty girls on campus, an early pre-view copy of a test, or FREE beer at a party you can never seem to find, some of these stories take on a life of their own. It looks like that’s happened again at Concordia University.

GOOD news about BedBugs at the University of Washington in Seattle.

“Good News” is relative, of course. The BedBug News Reports .com web pages are here, so that you can learn from the mistake of others. We don’t often get to report “good news” but this is about as “good” as it gets.

I’m General BedBug, Commanding Officer of the BedBug Resistance Army , “battle consultant” to FLfresh.com and , EcoBugFREE, the BedBug Eliminator. You can follow my “war-room” briefings to see how the battles move from city to city. I am @GeneralBedbug on Twitter and I do postings like this one on MrBedBug’s YouTube Account @ MrBedbug TV.

It is obvious from this KIRO TV 7 News report that the facilities management at the University of Washington are “on the job”. [we always make this disclaimer] We can only comment on what is reported and who knows how accurate local reporters are, but it looks like the U of W team is a winner.

What are the clues?
They are encouraging students to report suspect bites and have taught them to watch for BedBug fecal stains on bedsheets. They are using a canine “BedBug-sniffing Dog” to “double-check” rooms after each complete treatment cycle and trying to get students to resist the urge to “move”. Dragging all their belongings from building to building only means the students are taking the BedBugs with them. The article says they are using low-toxic treatments, steam and “heat-cycling” the students clothing. These are all things we suggest often, here on the pages of the Bedbug News Reports.com

Make NO mistake, BedBugs are a huge annoyance and a big chore to get rid of, but in mobile […]

Sweet Home Alabama….for Bedbugs too?

Bedbugs are back in Alabama, but not too many folks seem to be aware of it … and that helps spread the infestation. [if you don’t know what a BedBug looks like, read THIS post]

The BedBugNewsReports has been covering the spread of Bedbugs across the USA for a few years now, but someplaces, [like Alabama] seem to not have the press coverage of this growing problem.

Hello, my tasty-human friends. I’m MrBedBug, Chief SpokesBug for FLfresh.com and EcoBugFREE, the BedBug Eliminator. I am a TV star on MrBedBug-TV on YouTube and Editor of the BedBug News Reports.com

“We”, BedBugs, were almost completely wiped-out, just after the “BigWar”… when the “boys” came home from “Dubba-Dubba-2”, they had new chemicals [like DDT] to make life “easy”. The problem is/was… BedBugs in Alabama were not completely eradicated, and those toxic chemicals are illegal now. In the more recent years, BedBugs have become more and more immune to the ever-more toxic chemicals used by the franchise pest control companies. Bedbugs in Alabama homes, apartments, public housing units, plus hotel/motels and shelters is becoming “news-worthy” again.

The GOOD NEWS? Bedbugs do NOT spread disease…but that’s about it.

The BAD NEWS? BedBugs are hitch-hikers. “We” follow you tasty-humans anywhere / everywhere you go. The only defense is awareness, and there’s not much of that in Alabama. Unless you want to start seeing Bedbugs in Alabama becoming such a problem that Birmingham, Huntsville, Montgomery and Mobile are listed on the “Top 50 Most BedBug infested cities” list, everyone needs to start paying-attention. Tuscaloosa is a […]
