Bedbugs in casinos

If you think the job of being MrBedbug is bad: try being the Housing Director for a City

A small news report “leaked out” today with very little coverage. This news story “pretended” to be about Bedbugs, but it’s REALLY about something else.

The BedBug News Reports are posted so that YOU can learn from the mistakes of OTHERS. Why repeat the same mistakes… least that was our [appearently questionable] logic at the time we “invented” the BBNR. We have learned you can never predict ALL the actions [and reactions] of a citizen public. Here is the latest example.

The Hagerstown [Maryland] Housing Authority is spending $100.000.oo [tax-payer] dollars/ year to fight BedBugs in public housing. It’s a battle that is hard to win, under the best of circumstances. Let me repeat, we never post these news items to make fun of or belittle “authorities”, who, [quite frankly] sometime deserve it, but there is more to the story.

WBOC TV-16 in Hagerstown is reporting that Executive Director Ted Shankle has been working to get rid of BedBugs in the agency’s 1,200 rental apartments for 4 years. When tenant will not cooperate with landlords any plans to kill a Bedbug infestation is doomed to failure.

WHY? [oh, why?] would someone NOT be interested in getting the BedBugs out of their life? Let me tell you. Early in the “life experiences” of [the now famous and legendary] Mr BedBug, I worked to help clean a BedBug infestation in a small public housing […]

5 things you need to know about hotel rooms article, includes Bedbugs [again] but not for the “right” reason.

USAtoday is out with [another] headline grabbing story. They hope it will grab readers [it must have worked, because here I am talking about it], but the facts are a little light. “McPaper” has always been accused of being light on substance in the “news” department, but this article seems designed to just be a PR/support piece for union-housekeepers in the major cities…. with a little “hate” for BedBugs thrown into the mix. I guess I’m overly sensitive, but these “5 myths about hotel housekeeping” do NOT really seem to be…. Umm… myths…. And the “facts about Bedbugs” are missing.

I’m not disputing the thesis that hotel housekeeping isn’t a tough and tedious job. Just like the old joke about how people drive rental cars, everyone uses hotel rooms like that too. I get it, but isn’t that the “job description”. Come on! We all know “sanitation engineers”, chemical plant workers and other “nasty jobs” exist. In fact, “TV regular guy”, Mike Rowe has found TV fame with a “Dirty Jobs” show on the Discovery Channel that does nothing but celebrate these “your life could be worse” jobs of all types. So back we return to the USA today article that you can read HERE. I spend a LOT of time in hotel rooms, both literally and figuaratively [since I am Mr BedBug after all] I do like the idea of a “tip envelope” for housekeeping, and […]
