BedBug Wars

The only city with NO BedBugs, is Nashville

We talk a lot about where to FIND Bedbugs and often showcase the TOP 50 Most BedBug Infested Cities, but I know where there will be NO BedBugs, at least this week…. in Nashville Tennessee.

Hello my tasty-human friends. I’m MrBedBug, Chief SpokesBug for FLfresh.com and EcoBugFREE, the BedBug Eliminator. I am a TV star on MrBedBug-TV on YouTube and Editor of the BedBug News Reports.com

The hotels in Nashville Tennessee will be the cleanest places in the world, this week. The PestWorld / 2015 convention comes to town. With all the creepy-crawly experts, entomologist, and “bug-sprayers” in the city for a “How-To” get together you KNOW the place will be SUPER clean. LOL

I, the famous Mr BedBug sent a tweet to all my “peeps”. Get on the next bus, taxi, rental car or pedestrian out-of-town. I’m pretty sure Mr Cock-roach, Captain Ant, Mrs Millipede and the leader of the spooky-spider brigade did the same thing. HaHaha

PestWorld is the “big show” convention for everything “buggie”. All the manufacturers, chemical companies, service bureaus and industry reps all gather to learn and share the latest news and “best practices” for managing pest.

Don’t worry about ME. I go undercover as a human, to do opposition research. General George S Patton famously said: “Rommel, you bastard ! I read your book.” I like to think that is a great strategy, since I’m the resistance leader in the BedBug Wars.

If you are a retail consumer worried about BedBugs, the PestWorld event is where the big franchise service companies train and conspire to sell […]

Retail BedBug products…. and consumer advice sites that support them

Hello My Tasty-Human Friends. I’m MrBedBug, Chief SpokesBug for FLfresh.com and EcoBugFREE, the BedBug Eliminator. I am a TV star on MrBedBug-TV on YouTube and Editor of the BedBug News Reports.com

I was recently sent a link to a major manufacturer’s web site, where a writer ask a question [below], since the BedBugs didn’t DIE and the 1-800-talk-in-circles customer service rep offered no real help, [except to buy more product], They contacted me, seeking real help.

Here’s the original web posting on [famous brand name you know] web site.

Hello,
I bought the [brand-name] bed bug and flea spray and completely sprayed my couches with this stuff. After a few hours they seem to be coming out in full force, are moving very fast and don’t seem to be dying. I managed to drown 3 of them in a container with this spray, but the ones on my couch just seem very hyped up like it just made them mad.

Did I do something wrong or does it take longer than 5 hours for them to die?

ArizonaAge: 25 to 34 Gender: Female Level of expertise: Beginner Town:Phoenix,

The written response [before the call to 1-800-talk-in-circles was:

We do recommend waiting a day or so to evaluate the final results of a treatment. Please call us at 1-800-talk-in-circles, if you’re not seeing fewer Bed Bugs at that point and we’ll be happy to help you troubleshoot. Good Bye.

When I got this email, I had to call “Phoenix” because she included more info in the e-mail to me than appears of the web site, but info she shared with the [major-name-brand] company rep.

Here’s why I [*the Famous Mr BedBug] […]

In the BedBug Wars, it’s a long way from the “lab” to your bedroom.

We watch the Bedbug researchers. It’s what we do at www.BedBugNewsReports.com The “BedBug Wars” are no laughing matter. Entomologist are looking for someone to invent the “laser guided bomb” for BedBugs, because the “nuclear bomb” [ie: evermore toxic chemicals] isn’t a safe option any more.

The thing you need to know about entomological research is: [much like human drug research] the BIG profit opportunities get the most attention. Whether you like it or not, erectile disfunction drugs make more money than a cure for cancer. “Ant and Roach sprays” are more profitable than any solution to a BedBug infestation, because “spray and pray” [pray that it will work] is effective against ants and roaches. Those products gets very few complaints. BedBugs are a whole other issue. A simple “spray and pray” product will NEVER work. Bedbugs are entomologically different than ants and roaches. Even the best product [like EcoBugFree, the BedBug Eliminator] requires work to make sure the home [or workplace and public areas] are prepared and the product effectively applied. Ants and roaches are the “morons” of the insect world. Bedbugs are the geniuses.

The latest bit of excitement in the BedBug Wars is research done by Regine Gries at Simon Fraser University […]

Are there Bedbugs in your Airbnb home rental?

We talk a LOT about how it is often unfair to blame ONLY a hotel for Bedbugs when you travel. Bedbugs can be in your airline seat, the taxi, the seats of a convention center or concert hall….and yes, in your hotel room, but that’s because Bedbugs are potentially EVERYWHERE. Why is it a surprise to see reports of a Bedbug in a Airbnb rental.

In the epic battle between the humans and the Bedbugs, “we” will fight the war on any front. BedBugs are “back”, but you can’t be a “consciencious objector” or a peace-nic in this battle. You see, BedBugs only feed on humans. You are our only food source, so “my” BedBug Army is willing to go anywhere and follow you tasty-humans to the ends of the earth, for an all-you-can-eat buffet of YOU. [ FYI- I have BedBug troops stationed in Switzerland too]

Here’s the reality, today. The only defense against in the “BedBug Wars” is knowledge and TSA-level screening /awareness. Bedbugs are creatures of habit. If you know how “we” live, feed, breed, and move from place to place, you CAN reduce the odds that we will follow you home, to make a new nest. [ The technical term is “harborage”. BedBugs can hide in […]

BedBugs in Alaska? Yes, and it’s the state’s fastest growing problem.

Bedbugs are not a NEW problem in Alaska. The resurgence in the “lower 48” is now a common occurance, but Bedbugs in Alaska my be not as well understood.

Hello, my tasty-human friends. I’m MrBedBug, Chief SpokesBug for FLfresh.com and EcoBugFREE, the BedBug Eliminator. I am a TV star on MrBedBug-TV on YouTube and Editor of the BedBug News Reports.com

It’s only logical that BedBugs would be in Alaska. “We” only feed on “tasty-humans”, [as I say often in my blog-post and videos], but it takes a hardy BedBug to like living in Alaska… just like it takes special humans.

BedBugs are hitch-hikers, so the increase in easy travel between Alaskan cities and the “lower 48”, increases the chances you’ll see a BedBug infestation in Anchorage, Juneau, Fairbanks or in the working “wild”. It’s not all the fault of tourist. In the “lower 48”, I tell the “tasty-humans” it’s not the fault of homeless folks or no-tell-motels either. BedBugs have been around since human-time began…..and we aren’t going anywhere, as long as you don’t take our presence seriously.

This article in the Alaska Dispatch News doesn’t have a very good photo. If you want to see a better example, Here’s what a Bedbug looks like in your home.

BedBugs have nothing to do with your mattress. “we” were named BedBugs, because that’s where we were most commonly found, before the invention of other cool places we like to hang-out. Bedbugs are common in movie theaters, airplane seats, taxis and busses, plus, Dr offices, assisted-living and hospital facilities, plus apartments, condos and single-family homes. Bedbugs will gather anywhere a […]

BedBugs are expensive to exterminate, especially for charity shelter housing.

The BedBugNewsReports.com pages are here, so you can learn from the mistakes of others and this new story from Chico California is a sad example. It’s just that latest in a long line of charity housing / shelters with BedBugs that are making changes, in attempts to win the BedBug Wars.

I’m General BedBug, Commanding Officer of the BedBug Resistance Army and “battle consultant” to FLfresh.com and , EcoBugFREE, the BedBug Eliminator. Lets see what “we” can learn from the decisions and actions of the Torres Shelter.

They are on the front lines of the Bedbug Wars, not because of the low-income or homeless population they serve, but because BedBugs are hitch-hikers. They cling to any fabric that smells like a “tasty-human” all-you-can-eat-buffet. The sad fact is the transient population all across the country are at high risk for Bedbug infestation, because they have no stable home-base.

Most homeowners and apartment renters have some security, that if they “protect” the home-base, that they will have stability. That’s not true with transient populations, who return time after time to the same locations, to come into contact with Bedbugs over and over.

What we can learn here is that awareness and the inspection program has greatly reduced to likelihood of a Bedbug infestation returning to the shelter property. These very same awareness steps can be done by every homeowner. Your kids […]

When is MORE, really not the best plan? When fighting the BedBug Wars, that’s when.

We all think MORE is better. We want MORE money, MORE lights on our Christmas tree, MORE “sprinkles” on our ice cream sundae, but MORE bug-spray doesn’t always kill MORE bugs.… and it just might kill you.

I’m MrBedBug, Chief SpokesBug for FLfresh.com and EcoBugFREE, the BedBug Eliminator. I am a TV star on MrBedBug-TV and Editor of the BedBug News Reports.com

The Bedbug News Reports web site is here to help you learn from the mistakes of others. We try not to make fun of people who do stupid things. Reporters often say dumb things or make ill-informed statements, as fact, “on the air” and we often find “experts” who really aren’t. These are all things we expect. No one, especially local news reporters, are experts at everything, but when it comes to safety, we really get serious around here.

We understand that Bedbugs make you “tasty-humans” just go CRAZY. The same isn’t true for ants, roaches, or any other creepy-crawling thing that pops up. No one like roaches, but people aren’t burning the house down [literally] to get rid of them. So, when we see the EPA and CDC warnings /reports of deaths and serious injuries because of the over-use of “bug prays” we need to speak up.

The reality is BedBugs are no fun. [we try to insert humor by writing in the 1st person as “MrBedBug”, but we are just being silly to lighten the mood] BedBugs are a pain-in-the-ass to exterminate, unlike any other insect, but there is no reason to over-react and cause health issues related to toxic chemical over-exposure.

BedBug DO NOT spread […]

Sweet Home Alabama….for Bedbugs too?

Bedbugs are back in Alabama, but not too many folks seem to be aware of it … and that helps spread the infestation. [if you don’t know what a BedBug looks like, read THIS post]

The BedBugNewsReports has been covering the spread of Bedbugs across the USA for a few years now, but someplaces, [like Alabama] seem to not have the press coverage of this growing problem.

Hello, my tasty-human friends. I’m MrBedBug, Chief SpokesBug for FLfresh.com and EcoBugFREE, the BedBug Eliminator. I am a TV star on MrBedBug-TV on YouTube and Editor of the BedBug News Reports.com

“We”, BedBugs, were almost completely wiped-out, just after the “BigWar”… when the “boys” came home from “Dubba-Dubba-2”, they had new chemicals [like DDT] to make life “easy”. The problem is/was… BedBugs in Alabama were not completely eradicated, and those toxic chemicals are illegal now. In the more recent years, BedBugs have become more and more immune to the ever-more toxic chemicals used by the franchise pest control companies. Bedbugs in Alabama homes, apartments, public housing units, plus hotel/motels and shelters is becoming “news-worthy” again.

The GOOD NEWS? Bedbugs do NOT spread disease…but that’s about it.

The BAD NEWS? BedBugs are hitch-hikers. “We” follow you tasty-humans anywhere / everywhere you go. The only defense is awareness, and there’s not much of that in Alabama. Unless you want to start seeing Bedbugs in Alabama becoming such a problem that Birmingham, Huntsville, Montgomery and Mobile are listed on the “Top 50 Most BedBug infested cities” list, everyone needs to start paying-attention. Tuscaloosa is a […]
