5 things you need to know about hotel rooms article, includes Bedbugs [again] but not for the “right” reason.

USAtoday is out with [another] headline grabbing story. They hope it will grab readers [it must have worked, because here I am talking about it], but the facts are a little light. “McPaper” has always been accused of being light on substance in the “news” department, but this article seems designed to just be a PR/support piece for union-housekeepers in the major cities…. with a little “hate” for BedBugs thrown into the mix. I guess I’m overly sensitive, but these “5 myths about hotel housekeeping” do NOT really seem to be…. Umm… myths…. And the “facts about Bedbugs” are missing.

I’m MrBedBug, Chief SpokesBug for and EcoBugFREE, the BedBug Eliminator. I am a TV star on MrBedBug-TV and the Editor of the Bedbug News

I’m not disputing the thesis that hotel housekeeping isn’t a tough and tedious job. Just like the old joke about how people drive rental cars, everyone uses hotel rooms like that too. I get it, but isn’t that the “job description”. Come on! We all know “sanitation engineers”, chemical plant workers and other “nasty jobs” exist. In fact, “TV regular guy”, Mike Rowe has found TV fame with a “Dirty Jobs” show on the Discovery Channel that does nothing but celebrate these “your life could be worse” jobs of all types. Watch episodes HERE

So back we return to the USA today article that you can read HERE. I spend a LOT of time in hotel rooms, both literally and figuaratively [since I am Mr BedBug after all] I do like the idea of a “tip envelope” for housekeeping, and […]

If DDT killed BedBugs in the 30s, 40s and 50s, why can’t we bring it back to kill Bedbugs today?

The history of DDT has gotten worse, as the years go by. Its reputation is “colored” by what we now know were the hugely toxic effects left behind long after “treatment”, plus the residual effects. With that in mind, it is very interesting to see pockets of “demand” for the return of DDT, to help in the war against BedBugs.

I’m MrBedBug, Chief SpokesBug for and EcoBugFREE, the BedBug Eliminator. I am a TV star on MrBedBug-TV and the Editor of the BedBug News Reports .com

BedBugs are an ongoing nuisance for homeowners, landlords and businesses across the globe, but when municipal officials start to feel the heat to “do something” about BedBugs [usually in relation to some public / municipal owned housing] then the crazy “solutions” tend to pop up. I won’t name names today, because the level of stupidity to this idea is pretty high, [and memories are short, when politicians are involved], but lately this suggestion has been offered in several widely scattered municipalities. Usually the [logical?] argument is: “when DDT was legal, the Bedbugs were exterminated. Now it’s a “banned” substance and the Bedbugs are back, worse than ever”

While this is [sort of] true, what’s missing from the story is the concentrated efforts put forth by cities and municipalities to “win the war against BedBugs”. In the 1950s, a city would make a concentrated effort to eradicate BedBugs, and they were generally successful, not because of the DDT [although it did KILL BedBugs DEAD, along with everything else], but because of the coordinated effort.

The world of 2014, is very different. Look at the Ebola “scare” in the […]

Another “ActionNews” TV report about BedBugs attacking little ol’ ladies [in Kansas City this time]

If you have read the BedBug News Reports for any length of time, You will appreciate the comment, “here we go again”. Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs) seem to be the one place that “management” or ownership hasn’t learned the basics of BedBug prevention and treatment.

Hello, My tasty-Human friends…. I’m MrBedBug, Chief SpokesBug for and EcoBugFREE, the BedBug Eliminator. I am a TV star on MrBedBug-TV and here to help with the REAL story about how you can avoid Bedbugs and information about cleaning an infestation, if you get one.

BTW, if you are new to the BedBug News web site, we hope you’ll stay and read more about how YOU can learn from the mistakes of others. BedBugs are creatures of habit. The more you know, the better decisions you can make, when [NOT if] you are confronted with a potential Bedbug infestation. We NEVER post information in an attempt to embarrass any person or business. BedBugs are a “new” problem for many facility managers, businesses, landlords of all types and home owners.

The latest ALF to make the pages of the BedBug News Reports is the Delaware Highlands Assisted Living facility in Kansas City, Kansas. Appearently they weren’t responsive enough to the early signs of a Bedbug infestation to prevent Betsy Webster of KCTV-5 News from showing up on their front door. See Betsy’s news report in the link— or in the player below

Here’s what went wrong. [Remember, I only know what is included in this news report.]

#1- “Keep it quiet” or “Don’t tell anyone, because they will panic” […]

BedBugs are “GUILTY” of infesting the Tulsa [Oklahoma] County Courthouse.

Here’s another example of my BedBug family following tasty-humans everywhere you go… even to the courthouse. I’m MrBedBug, Chief SpokesBug for and EcoBugFREE, the BedBug Eliminator. I am a TV star on MrBedBug-TV and here to help you learn how to avoid a BedBug infestation.

BedBug News is here to help you learn from the mistakes of others, but it looks like the Tulsa County [Oklahoma] Courthouse staff has a plan in place. We like to report on the SUCCESS stories too, because we rarely see them in the news. You see, most people watching this news report by Morgan Downing of Fox23 KOKI TV in Tulsa Oklahoma would think “Oh NO, BedBugs.” But I think… “Congratulations Tulsa County Courthouse Staff, Good Job.” See the original TV News report here.

I only know what was included in the news report, but appearantly this wasn’t the first incidence of BedBugs in the Tulsa County Courthouse. The staff was trained to notice BedBugs, areas were “quarantined” and cleaning was immediately scheduled. That’s about as good as it gets in a public municipal building.

I’m MrBedBug and here’s what you should know. BedBugs are hitch-hikers. As in this story, a person walked into the Tulsa Couty Courthouse with a Bedbug “hitch-hiking” along for the ride. Most people falsely assume that BedBugs live near BEDS, but that’s not true at all. We think you humans are SO tasty. BedBugs are a growing problem in movie theaters, in airplanes and on taxi and bus seats, plus Dr Offices, hospitals, ALFs and, yes, even Courthouses. […]

BedBugs & Chagas Disease are in-the-news. Before you panic read THIS!!

There is a new dramatic “plague” coming to KILL YOU. We see these headlines all the time, but the newest is the “research” showing that Bedbugs are spreading Chagas disease. If you are like most folks, your first reaction was… “what the hell is Chagas disease?”

I’m MrBedBug, Chief SpokesBug for and EcoBugFREE, the BedBug Eliminator. I am a TV star on MrBedBug-TV and Chief Editor of the BedBug News

There are a LOT of MYTHS about bedbugs on the internet and this newest research paper making the rounds in the press isn’t helping. Let me state up-front that I’m MrBedBug, not Mr PhD in exotic diseases. That said: there are some serious problems with the way the press is reporting this research paper that I would like to explore.

First, What the hell is Chagas disease? It is one of those “rare” exotic diseases transmitted by a parasite [Trypanosoma cruzi] into animals [and humans]. It is most common in Central and South America, and has been seen recently in southern Mexico. The main infection point for the disease is contact with the feces of blood-sucking bugs, [ie: famously in this study “Kissing Bugs”.] Here’s where an Entomology degree would help [that most journalist don’t have]. The feces must be ingested or enter the body through mucous membranes or breaks in the skin. Scratching itches, rubbing eyes or putting dirty fingers in the mouth are the most common path. The results of Chagas disease are none to fun, chronic heart or intestinal failure, but the disease lays dormant for many years, so symptoms are […]

Who is the creepiest BUG at Halloween? It’s not the Bedbug

Who is the creepiest BUG at Halloween? It’s not the Bedbug
I’m MrBedBed, the Chief Spokes-Bug for FLfresh LLC, the national distributor of EcoBugFREE, the BedBug Eliminator. Because I’m a celebrity-bug, I get notes, questions and e-mails about my BedBug family anytime we pop-up in the news.

Today the Fort Myers News-Press has an expose’ on BUGS. Which one is the creepiest? Just in time for Halloween, they are throwing some “hate” my way. As I often say on the pages of BedBug News, we BedBugs just want to be your friend. BedBugs do NOT spread disease [it’s true!! Look it up]. We just want a tiny, tasty meal. Unlike other household pest, we don’t like grime and filth any more than you do. BTW,The same can’t be said for those disqusting cockroaches. Those guys are just gross.
So the good news is my Bedbug community isn’t the #1 most scary bug, but being #2 isn’t helping in my PR campaign. Thanks Fort Myers News-Press !!

Who were the scary bugs?
#1 is the Brown Recluse Spider. This guy is just no fun at a party. He’s sneaky, hiding in dark places and biting anyone who disturbs him. The bite [like a vampire] injects a venom that starts eating tissue and causes a huge puss-filled bump the size of a quarter. That will get your attention. I’m curious though. If teenage human girls like Vampires on TV and in movies, why aren’t they HOT for BRS?

#3 and #4 are bad guys too. The Flesh Flies have a […]

Survey SAYS: What is an apartment renters worst fear? [it is the same as the landlords] FYI

There’s a new survey of apartment renters, and it’s no surprise to anyone here at Bedbug News that the results show: BedBugs are #1 on the list of “the most feared insects”. What we found interesting is: People fear what they know, not what is a real danger.

I’m MrBedBug, Chief SpokesBug for and EcoBugFREE, the BedBug Eliminator. I am a TV star on MrBedBug-TV and Editor of the BedBug News I’m also a HUGE fan of Richard Dawson, host of Family Feud, after he spent years in Col. Klink’s “Stalag 13”.

Because we see all the press coverage about Bedbugs, here at the BedBug News, we know “my” family gets a lot of bad press, but what is interesting is what you discover deeper in the results of these popular media surveys. [Just like on Family Feud, the #1 answer may not be the logical one] While it is true that Bedbugs pop-up as the No#1 fear of apartment renters, the most common complaint is roaches and ants. In an odd way that’s good. Roaches and ants are relatively easy to deal with. They die from common low-grade insecticides and a strong “barrier” spray will keep them out of view. What I [the famous Mr BedBug] find interesting is that house flies are way down the list of worries.

What most homeowners and apartment renters don’t know is: Houseflies are seriously NASTY. They are dirty, carry serious disease and transmit germs to every surface they touch. Ants are [relatively] clean, and while roaches are dirty too, they don’t deposit grim onto every […]

BEDBUGS!!! The Broadway Musical Comedy… celebrating “Opening Night”

I’m MrBedBug, Chief SpokesBug for and EcoBugFREE, the BedBug Eliminator. I am a TV star on MrBedBug-TV, but I never dreamed my family would make the big-time of NYC Broadway theatre…… [pronounced the way William Shakey-Spear would have said it…ie: “Theee-A-tur” ]

Tonight is opening night for BEDBUGS!!! -the musical, at the The ArcLight Theatre on West 71 St. the press release says it a “girl-meets-bug sci-fi-rock-musical-comedy”. That’s sounds like MY life. I like to believe all the girls stay up at night dreaming of me, the loveable and friendly, MrBedbug.

Like most TV shows, movies and musical productions they took some “license”, because the star [Chris Hall as Cimex, the Bedbug] is actually the “bad-guy”. How can that possibly BE? We Bedbugs aren’t “bad guys”. We only want to be your friends. The story line is that “Carly”, the female lead character [played by Grace McLean] is so emotionally unstable that she seeks revenge on BedBugs. She sprays too much “bug-juice” and accidentally creates a super-human-sized army of BedBugs instead. [See, we’ve been telling you that those toxic chemicals used by the franchise pest control contractors were bad for you]

The show is described as Rocky Horror meets Little Shop of Horrors, [without Audrey appearently. LOL] The BedBugs seek world-domination. This MUST be fantasy and comedy; because, as we all know, Bedbugs need humans to be alive and healthy. How else can we feed on your tasty human blood?
BEDBUGS!!! with music by Paul Leschen and books/lyrics by Fred Sauter, direction/choreography by Robert Bartley, and musical […]

Google offers “rewards” for finding bugs…but not BedBugs

I’m Mr BedBug, [Chief SpokesBug for] and Editor of the BedBug News Reports pages. We [momentarily] thought we had HUGE breaking News today. At first glance it looks like Google was into the -bug extermination- business, but like so much else in life… CAN’T TRUST the headlines.

The Headline says: [Google Expands Bug Bounty Program, Offers More Cash] you can read it here:,2817,2430360,00.asp It’s important to actually READ the news, because they are talking about software bugs. As irritating as those can be, they are not like ME !!

I thought I’d share it anyway, Don’t let anyone tell you I’m not a well-rounded, and well read BedBUG.

GOOD news about BedBugs at the University of Washington in Seattle.

“Good News” is relative, of course. The BedBug News Reports .com web pages are here, so that you can learn from the mistake of others. We don’t often get to report “good news” but this is about as “good” as it gets.

I’m General BedBug, Commanding Officer of the BedBug Resistance Army , “battle consultant” to and , EcoBugFREE, the BedBug Eliminator. You can follow my “war-room” briefings to see how the battles move from city to city. I am @GeneralBedbug on Twitter and I do postings like this one on MrBedBug’s YouTube Account @ MrBedbug TV.

It is obvious from this KIRO TV 7 News report that the facilities management at the University of Washington are “on the job”. [we always make this disclaimer] We can only comment on what is reported and who knows how accurate local reporters are, but it looks like the U of W team is a winner.

What are the clues?
They are encouraging students to report suspect bites and have taught them to watch for BedBug fecal stains on bedsheets. They are using a canine “BedBug-sniffing Dog” to “double-check” rooms after each complete treatment cycle and trying to get students to resist the urge to “move”. Dragging all their belongings from building to building only means the students are taking the BedBugs with them. The article says they are using low-toxic treatments, steam and “heat-cycling” the students clothing. These are all things we suggest often, here on the pages of the Bedbug News

Make NO mistake, BedBugs are a huge annoyance and a big chore to get rid of, but in mobile […]
