Bed Bugs in Alaska

Alaska infestations of bedbugs

BedBugs in Alaska? Yes, and it’s the state’s fastest growing problem.

Bedbugs are not a NEW problem in Alaska. The resurgence in the “lower 48” is now a common occurance, but Bedbugs in Alaska my be not as well understood.

It’s only logical that BedBugs would be in Alaska. “We” only feed on “tasty-humans”, [as I say often in my blog-post and videos], but it takes a hardy BedBug to like living in Alaska… just like it takes special humans.

BedBugs are hitch-hikers, so the increase in easy travel between Alaskan cities and the “lower 48”, increases the chances you’ll see a BedBug infestation in Anchorage, Juneau, Fairbanks or in the working “wild”. It’s not all the fault of tourist. In the “lower 48”, I tell the “tasty-humans” it’s not the fault of homeless folks or no-tell-motels either. BedBugs have been around since human-time began…..and we aren’t going anywhere, as long as you don’t take our presence seriously.

This article in the Alaska Dispatch News doesn’t have a very good photo. If you want to see a better example, Here’s what a Bedbug looks like in your home.

Bedbugs will gather anywhere a […]

BedBugs in Alaska listen to Johnny Horton and Dwyght Yokum North to Alaska is not just a song.

BedBugs are vagabonds in the truest sense, hitch-hiking along with tasty-humans anywhere you go. You see, humans are our only food source, so we are always looking for a ride to the “outpost” too.

The land of the midnight sun is a tough place. Only the most rugged tasty-humans out-post in Alaska. That’s why stories about bedbugs in Alaska are rare. It’s hard to be a nocturnal / vampire when the sun never sets most of the year.

We “BedBugs” are a tough pest and we will persevere. Over many thousands of generations we have adapted to the human lifestyle, so we don’t like the frigid cold any better than you do, but let us get a colony started and we are ready to “rough-it” too.

Here is Johnny Horton singing “North to Alaska”.

Dwight Yoakum pays tribute to the BedBugs in Alaska, with his version of “North to Alaska”.
I think that’s what the song is about [it’s not, but it makes a funny story to pretend it is]

The BedBug News Reports is here to help you learn from the mistakes of others. You can clean a BedBug infestation, without hiring expensive pest control contractors. 90% of the job is “prep-work”. The pest control contractors will insist you do most of this work yourself [or they charge outrageous fees to do it for you]. This article in the Alaska NewsMiner about the Bedbugs spread across Alaska is just confirmation […]
